Why I practice:

I practice yoga to access the clarity I need to live my most purposeful and enjoyable life. Yoga makes it possible for me to know what I want and have the tools to be able go for it while feeling good in my body and empowered in my mind. My yoga practice helps me tune into and be grateful for all the beauty in my life, and appreciate life 100x more.

What OHY means to me:

As the studio owner, it's one of my babies, and it is loved and adored just like my two children. To me, it's Steamboat's best place to find genuine connection to yourself, others, and the beautiful nature we're surrounded by.

What's something unexpected yoga has taught you?

How to embrace messiness and failure.

What was your first impression of yoga?

My first impression of yoga is that it was really fun and really hard. I'll never forget that I couldn't hold crescent lunge for even one breath the first time I tried it - I was so wobbly. The most challenging things have the greatest reward, so I'm glad I stuck with it through those initial wobbles!

Why I teach:

I teach to share the practice that has transformed my life. I love alignment-based classes and creating challenging, thoughtful sequences that create the space to step out of the everyday and into presence. My classes are intentional and creative, while inviting you to reconnect to something bigger on your mat.

Why I practice:

I practice to remind myself of who I am, change my perspective, and have a space where optimization isn’t the main goal.

What OHY means to me:

I came to the very first class at OHY and haven’t stopped coming since. I consider it my first home in Steamboat. It’s where I was certified as a teacher, taught my first class, and dove deep into a lifelong practice. I’m beyond grateful I get to co-create it to be a space where your name is known, and we notice when you’re not around.

Why I practice:

To stay connected to my body, my breath, and myself. Yoga teaches me to listen, adapt, and keep growing through every season of life.

Why I teach:

I love helping people discover what is possible in their own bodies—and watching that awareness build confidence both on and off the mat.

My promise to you:

I will meet you where you are, invite you to get curious, and help you build a practice that honors the body you have today.

What OHY means to me:

Community. OHY is a place to practice, connect, grow, and belong. It has been an important part of my own evolution as both a student and a teacher.

What’s something unexpected yoga has taught you?

That listening to my body can be more powerful than pushing it. Awareness gives me choices—and those choices change how I move through life.

What’s something unexpected yoga has taught you?

my low back pain didn't come from my low back, stretching doesn't typically increase flexibility and I had no idea it could have such a huge impact in how I mentally show up for my family.

What was your first impression of yoga?

It was SO hard. I have never been and am still working on flexibility, but it's getting better!

Stacia Whitehead

Taylor Hebel

Zach Shortway

Why I practice:

I practice because I feel most at home when I am in my body. As soon as my hands hit my mat, the stresses and obligations of daily life begin to fall away, and life becomes simpler and clearer. As I move and breathe with intention, I am able to move through emotions, lingering thoughts, fears, and all of the distractions that take me out of what's most important -- right now. It helps me navigate who I am and who I am becoming.

Why I teach:

I teach to share my love and passion for the practice with the world. Yoga has helped and taught me so much in my life, so if I can share that and make a positive impact for someone else, no matter how small, it is all I could ever ask for.

What OHY means to me:

OHY means the world to me. It is where I found my passion for yoga. It is where I became a teacher. It is where I have met some of my best friends. No matter how life ebbs and flows, it has always been a constant space where I can show up as myself. Happy, sad, struggling, thriving, OHY has always been there.

What was your first impression of yoga?

It was insanely hard and intimidating. But the euphoric feeling in savasana kept me coming back.

Why I practice:

I practice to uplift my life, support my body, stay focused on growth, and let the journey continually surprise me.

Why I teach:

I teach to share the experience and opportunities my teachers provided, elevating my life.

What OHY means to me:

OHY, to me, is a community, a home, and a mildly concerning addiction
